Shanna Oliver
PROJECT MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST
Shanna Oliver joined the Office of Finance, Administration and Budget in October of 2023, following nearly four years in IU’s Capital Planning & Facilities office and previous roles with a construction company, a nonprofit, a school system, and in health care. Growing up in Bloomington, she long aspired to work at Indiana University. Now, Shanna most enjoys working with faculty, staff, and executive leadership across campus. Her advice for job seekers looking for a good fit? “Never underestimate your goals.”
Q: What initially led you to Indiana University, and what has inspired you to stay?
A: I was born and raised in Bloomington. I wanted to be a part of the Indiana University community, which is a big part of the city—and which, professionally, I knew would lead me to my highest potential. There are so many different opportunities at IU.
Q: What do you want people to know about your work that they may not know?
A:I have a diverse finance background ranging from the health care industry to capital planning and beyond. Regardless of the team, I always demonstrate the highest commitment to quality work.
Q: What's the best part of your job and why?
A:In my current role, the best part is the interaction with departments across campus. I get to work with wonderful executives, staff, and faculty.
Q: What is your favorite dish or place to eat on campus?
A:My favorite place to eat near campus is BuffaLouie's!
Q: Favorite IU event(s)?
A: My family and I enjoy tailgating and attending IU Football games!
